Thomas Aquinas, 1225-1274.

13th C. Italian Dominican theologian, probably the most influential of Scholastic philosophers.

A prolific commentator on Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas effectively served as the bridge between the Ancient Classical world and the European Renaissance.  Aquinas is best known for his Summa Theologica (completed.1273), a remarkable fusion of Aristotlean rationality and Christian faith.  It became the official dogma of the Catholic Church.  His economic contributions on property, "just" price, money and his condemnation of usury can be found in Part II of the Summa
